Lattice Power Corporation was incorporated in the Cayman Islands in January 2006 and funded mainly by GSR Ventures, Mayfield Fund, AsiaVest Partners, Temasek Holdings and Keytone Ventures with USD$52 million. Lattice Power (Jiangxi) Corporation is wholly owned by Lattice Power Corporation with a registered capital of USD$50 million. The company’s original technologies came from the Research and Engineering Center of Luminescence Materials and Devices of the Educational Ministry at Nanchang University. The company is doing GaN epi material and chip R&D and production on silicon substrate, which is the third GaN LED technology pathway in addition to SiC and sapphire. The company has expansive IP on silicon-based GaN LED technology and has 50+ patents being granted or publicized. Silicon-based GaN LED chips from the company have three majoradvantages (I)Backed by the company's large intellectual property portfolio (II)Have good performance such as ESD,long life and able to sustain high current density (III)Are easy for packaging due to the single-lead vertical structure On February 1, 2007, the construction of Phase I was able to commence with the support from the various municipal and provincial government branches. In October 20007, the company moved into its new plant. In May 2008, chip production capacity of 3 billion was established and pilot production started. The company’s capacity is planned to be built in three phrases: Phase I: to complete construction of a capacity of 10 billion chips with a total investment of USD$99 million Phase II: with an additional investment of USD$200 – 300 million to reach a revenue of USD$300-400 million, strive to be one of the global leading LED chip suppliers Phase III: to build LED application systems and to attract solid state lighting companies from all over the global to Nanchang for the LED and solid state lighting industrial cluster establishment. | |
